Our Heritage
Milnesand Grass-Fed Beef, LLC, is a local ranch community effort with the
goal of creating and marketing the most wholesome meat products possible.
The ranching community of Milnesand was named for the "windmills in the
sand" back when the land was open from Ft. Worth, Texas, to the Pecos River.
The "mills", historically known as dependable sources of watering, are still
a vital part of our daily lives and an important part of our ranching
heritage. As customers, you are welcome to visit our ranches, the ranches of
eastern New Mexico, to experience our lives, culture, and see for yourselves
the way we grow grass-fed beef.
Milnesand Grass-Fed Beef producers are engaged in an effort to protect
and enhance ecosystem health here on the plains. This area of eastern New
Mexico is home to an interesting array of wildlife and grassland habitats
found in few other places. The lesser prairie-chicken, an indicator species
of rangeland health, occur here in healthy numbers. The black-tailed prairie
dog shares the plains along with the burrowing owl, coyote, Swainson’s hawk,
mule deer and antelope. On-going wildlife research in this area assures that
all parts of this grassland ecosystem remains intact for future generations
to enjoy. We know and appreciate the value of wildlife in the bigger picture
of rangeland health. Productive ranches and viable wildlife populations are
not mutually exclusive. Today you have a choice of what you eat and where
you get it. We provide locally grown free-range beef: grass-fed,
grass-finished, no grain, no antibiotics, no hormone growth enhancers. We identify and follow every animal from the minute they are born. We
are so confident in our beef that we not only eat what we produce we feed it
to our families ~ ~ our children.
You do have a
choice!
